On Thursday, 17 October, AMAB, in cooperation with Festicup and Wash-it, introduced the first automated and most energy-efficient washing solution for reusable drinking cups in Europe. The launch of our washing line, manufactured by Meiko, was officially opened with Ministers Zuhal Demir and Jo Vandeurzen in attendance.

Next year, the new law governing catering equipment will take effect, and that means that serving drinks in disposable cups, cans or plastic bottles will be banned at virtually all events. So now, the safe and professional solution for washing reusable cups is Wash-it.

Wash-it is an initiative from seven entrepreneurs who form cooperatives of custom-work companies. Many of these companies confirmed their cooperation with the project to be able to provide their professional washing services. The Federation of Music Festivals in Flanders (FMiV) will also use this service. AMAB is the first washing partner in Belgium to handle the cleaning and drying of reusable cups in its branch in Asse. By choosing Wash-it, event organisers and governments can also support employment in social custom-work companies.

AMAB, together with its partners, prepared for this launch for months. And it was a huge success – scores of customers and stakeholders came out to be introduced to our new initiative. Experience the launch of our washing line yourself. Our initiative was also in the media spotlight. You will find the links to the various press articles under the short films.

This, however, is just the beginning. AMAB and its partners will continue down this path, with a view to a greener, more circular economy!
